Summer news

Next breeding pairs were completed thanks to my purchases in Hamm early in June. My German friends Dennis and Hanno helped me with species Gon. atricucullaris, Sph. parvus, Sph. nigropunctatus ocujal and Dip. tessellatus whereas some bought specimens are not fully adult as yet. Paroedura vazimba females and females of both Phyllurus species started to lay the eggs in June.

New breeding season 2023

I managed to get a male Gonatodes ocellatus and a male Gonatodes caudiscutatus during Dec 22 and Mar 23 Hamm shows, and so the number of complete adult pairs of Gonatodes ready for the 2023 season increased to 11. I also brought a sub-adult pair of Diplodactylus tessellatus from the March Hamm and so I am curious how I will do with this species in the future. A pair of Phyllurus platurus laid the very first pair of eggs in March. They are already being incubated in a quite new incubator from Mr. Smítal.

The breeding season 2022

Unfortunately, this season was not very successful for me due to fatal failure of the Lucky Reptile Herp Nursery II incubator and the subsequent overheating of dozens of eggs. On the other hand, I have found for the very first time the eggs from the species U. milii, S. arabicus, P. amnicola, N. levis levis and E. vieillardi this season. Thanks to reptile shows held in Hamm this year, I could pair some species of Gonatodes again. I will start breeding of the species D. granariensis rex, D. galeatus, P. vazimba, P. platurus, N. deleani and P. geitje next season. For this purpose, I have already ordered quite new and reliable incubator from Mr. Smítal.

Hamm show – Common Gonatodes species completion

I bought some young Gonatodes specimens of rather common species in Hamm this Sat to complete my incomplete breeding pairs later this year. I hope that I’ll also find females of two scarcer species annularis and atricucullaris in Oct 2022 and start all Gonatodes species breeding again.

Spring 2022

In May, eggs from other species begin to appear, the females Underwoodisaurus milii and Nephrurus wheeleri cinctus start to lay regularly. I have the first clutches from Chondrodactylus angulifer, Eurydactylodes vieillardi and Phyllurus amnicola, too. The female Pachydactylus rangei also laid the first unfertilized eggs. There aren't many eggs from Gonatodes, I have more pairs unpaired, but I should pair some of them in June.

Nephrurus deleani

I have quite new species in my breeding - subadult pair of Nephrurus deleani from Mr. Dudik. I bought also new breeding female of Gonatodes albogularis fuscus a week ago.

Early spring in my breeding

The Underwoodisaurus milli female surprisingly laid her first clutch in my breeding, although the pair is still kept in standard winter conditions with lower temperature. Thanks to Mr. Novak, I managed to pair my lone Gonatodes vittatus female before oncoming season. I have three nice young males and five juveniles from him all of them in exchange for the species Gonatodes antillensis. Hence, I will have this nice species complete in the 2022 breeding season again. The purchase of female Gonatodes daudini from Mr. Sotorník has already been arranged, too.

Reptile shows Ziva Exotika and Fauna trhy

After a long time, both reptile shows that I visit were held again. I was especially curious about the Ziva Exotika held in new premises and I was not disappointed at all, especially the marking of particular rows and tables was excellent. I also bought some new geckos, resp. chameleon female (Phyllurus platurus, Brookesia thielli) there and I got the hope that I will be able to get a male Gonatodes vittatus here in the Czech Republic, too.
